About Tailwind Rescue

We're a passionate team of pilots and animal lovers united by one mission: giving wings to rescue.

How It All Began

Tailwind Rescue was founded with a simple belief: every animal deserves a chance at a loving home, no matter where they are. Every year, thousands of dogs, cats, and other pets end up in overcrowded shelters—many in rural or under-resourced areas where adoption opportunities are limited.

We bridge that gap by providing life-saving air transport for at-risk animals. Our volunteer pilots donate their time, aircraft, and fuel to fly these animals from shelters to rescue partners and forever homes across the country.

What started as a personal mission has grown into a network of compassionate volunteers, all united by the belief that we can make a difference—one flight at a time.

What We Stand For

Compassion First

Every decision we make is guided by what's best for the animals in our care.

Community

We work together with shelters, rescues, and adopters to create a network of support.

Second Chances

We believe every animal deserves a chance at a loving home, no matter their past.

Ace

In Loving Memory

Ace

2017 - 2025

Ace was more than just a dog—he was my first rescue, my best friend, and the reason Tailwind Rescue exists today.

For eight wonderful years, Ace was by my side through everything. When cancer took his leg halfway through his life, he didn't slow down. True to his spirit, he powered on with three legs and an unstoppable heart, showing me what resilience and unconditional love really look like.

In 2025, cancer finally took Ace from this world—but his spirit lives on in every flight we make, every animal we rescue, and every life we help save.

"Ace taught me that every rescue matters. That's why we do what we do—because every animal deserves the chance he gave me."

— Matthew Gros, Founder
